WMF POCKET WATCH HOLDER

This impressive and useful watch stand or holder is decorated in a fluid Jugendstil style and enhanced by a delicate a pine cone motive.
It was designed under the supervision of sculptor/designer Albert Mayer for the well known German firm WMF (Wurtembergische MetalWarenFabrik) around 1903. Mayer was appointed head of the Art Studio in 1894.
This item is illustrated at page 297 of the original 1906 "The Art Nouveau Domestic Metalwork Catalogue" from WMF as model N° 329.
