Paul CAUCHIE biography
(1875-1952)
Belgian painter, decorator and architect
Even before the completion of his studies at l'Ecole des Arts Decoratifs of Brussels, Cauchie had founded in 1896 a successful fresco business. He later excelled in the art of the sgraffites, a technique of color drawing and gold enlightenment into cement, very popular at that time in Belgium.

In 1905, self taught as an architect, he built himself a house in Brussels and the facade was used to present all his talents in architectural work: the details and ornaments are a pleasant expression of Art Nouveau style.
